Fort Wayne, Indiana (May 4, 2012) -- WFFT-TV, owned and operated by Nexstar Broadcasting Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: NXST), and serving the Fort Wayne, Indiana, Ohio and Michigan areas, announced today that Kristen Kirchhaine has joined WFFT Local News’ 3D Local Weather Team. Kristen’s first on-air date is Monday, May 7th.
A native of the Midwest, having grown up in Western Michigan, Kirchhaine joins WFFT Local as the Chief Forecaster from KULR-8 in Billings, Montana. Kirchhaine is a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock with a Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism.
“I’m really excited about getting back to the Midwest, and meeting the friendly people in the area,” said Kirchhaine. “I love the fact that Fort Wayne offers all four seasons and all types of weather.”

Kirchhaine will be delivering the forecast for WFFT Local Monday through Friday during WFFT Local News First at 10. She’ll continue the tradition of beginning each newscast with the “Forecast First” that WFFT started when the station launched its 10pm Newscast 3 years ago.
In her spare time, Kristen enjoys spending time with friends and her two cats, Meesa and Friday. Kristen recently started playing Golf, and is working on getting better at it. She said she’s looking forward to trying out the various courses here. Kristin also likes going to the movies, cooking, and traveling when time allows.
