The University of Notre Dame is increasing tuition 3.8 percent for the 2012-13 school year, to $42,971, the university announced today.

The increase matches the increase of the previous two years, which was the lowest since 1960, Notre Dame said in a statement.

With average room and board rates at $11,934, total student charges will be $54,905, the statement said.
