Mastodons let one slip away against Jaguars

– Stephen Thomas’ three-pointer with 24 seconds left Saturday gave IUPUI a 66-63 come-from-behind win over IPFW.

Alex Young scored 21 to lead IUPUI. IPFW led 55-45 before the Jaguars (10-15, 4-9 Summit) began their comeback.

Trey McCorkle led the Mastodons (10-13, 4-10) with 14 points and seven rebounds. IPFW has lost of seven of its last eight games.

MIAMI (OHIO) 59, BALL STATE 53: In Muncie, Quinten Rollins scored 14 points as the RedHawks (6-14, 2-6 MAC) handed the Cardinals (12-8, 4-4) a fourth straight loss.

DETROIT 65, BUTLER 61: In Indianapolis, Ray McCallum scored 20 points as the Titans (13-12, 7-6 Horizon) swept the season series against the Bulldogs (13-12, 7-6).

SOUTHERN ILLINOIS 53, EVANSVILLE 52: In Carbondale, Ill., Jeff Early stole the ball and sank a free throw with 2 seconds left to lead the Salukis (8-16, 5-8 Missouri Valley) past the Purple Aces (11-12, 6-7).

SAINT FRANCIS 108, BETHEL 72: Ethan Hussey scored 24 points and the host Cougars (19-8, 10-5 MCC) outrebounded Bethel (14-12, 6-9) 65-23.

INDIANA TECH 70, CORNERSTONE 67: Rodney Bartholomew led the host Warriors (19-6, 9-6) with 21 points and 22 rebounds against Cornerstone (15-12, 9-6 WHAC).

HUNTINGTON 90, MOUNT VERNON NAZARENE 67: The host Foresters (15-11, 7-7 MCC) hit 18 of 25 shots in the first half to break out to a 50-22 halftime lead in their win over Mount Vernon Nazarene (9-17, 3-11 MCC).

MANCHESTER 64, FRANKLIN 63: In North Manchester, Jason Spindler had 21 points to lead the Spartans (7-13, 5-8 HCAC) past Franklin (10-10, 7-6).

TRINE 52, ADRIAN 50: In Adrian, Mich., the Thunder (13-8, 6-4 MIAA), who got 17 points for Ian Jackson, snapped an eight-game losing streak to the Bulldogs.

Women

IUPUI 76, IPFW 62: In Indianapolis, the Mastodons lost their fifth straight game and fell into second-to-last place in the Summit League. Stephanie Rosado’s 14 points led IPFW (7-16, 4-8) against IUPUI (10-13, 5-6).

SAINT FRANCIS 65, BETHEL 56: In Mishawaka, Jenelle Wilson scored 18 points as Saint Francis (17-9, 9-5 MCC) upset No. 12 Bethel (19-6, 11-3).

CORNERSTONE 67, INDIANA TECH 58: In Grand Rapids, Mich., Yasmine Coleman scored 14 for the Warriors (12-15, 4-11 WHAC) against Cornerstone (18-9, 11-4).

MOUNT VERNON NAZARENE 63, HUNTINGTON 61: In Mount Vernon, Allison Green’s 25 points wasn’t enough to keep the No. 21 Foresters (15-9, 7-7 MCC) from being upset by Mount Vernon Nazarene (12-12, 4-10).

BUFFALO 61, BALL STATE 37: In Muncie, Ball State (8-15, 3-7 MAC) shot only 20.4 percent in its loss to Buffalo (7-17, 2-8).

FRANKLIN 66, MANCHESTER 51: In North Manchester, the Grizzlies (20-1, 13-1 HCAC) avenged their only loss by topping the Spartans (14-7, 10-4).

ADRIAN 65, TRINE 56: In Adrian, Mich., Sydney Spragg’s 17 points weren’t enough for the Thunder (10-12, 4-9 MIAA) against the Bulldogs (8-11, 5-8 MIAA).

GRACE 73, GOSHEN 54: In Winona Lake, Kiera Gray scored 20 to lead the Lancers (16-10, 8-6 MCC) against Goshen (3-23, 0-14).
