Arrest made in flashing inquiry

A Warsaw man has been arrested on suspicion of exposing himself to children at a school southeast of Nappanee, according to the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department.

Darrin Ray Gibbs, 46, is preliminarily charged with two felonies: indecent exposure and vicarious sexual gratification.

The sheriff’s department was notified Jan. 28 about the exposure that allegedly occurred Jan. 27. Detectives tracked down Gibbs using a license plate number, and he was arrested Thursday.

According to the sheriff’s department, Gibbs told a detective he stopped outside the school and exposed and touched himself in view of children. Gibbs has two prior convictions for indecent exposure in Michigan, one in 1989 and another in 1991.

He was in custody Friday at the Kosciusko County Jail, with a bail amount of $3,000.
