  • Former IU player, coach Watson dies
    Lou Watson, who was an All-American and later coach at Indiana, died Thursday in Fairfax, Va. He was 88. Watson was an All-American in 1950 and coached at IU from 1966-1971.

Indiana tops Purdue

Victor Oladipo scored 21 points to lead Indiana to a 78-61 victory Saturday against Purdue at Mackey Arena.

Cody Zeller scored 16 points and Remy Abell finished with 13 points, including a game-clinching three-pointer with 1:27 to go.

The No. 20 Hoosiers (18-6, 6-6 Big Ten) snapped a five-game losing streak in the series. It's Indiana's first win at Mackey Arena since 2006.

Robbie Hummel had 16 points for Purdue (15-8, 5-5). D.J. Byrd added 15 points. The Boilermakers shot 29.6 percent from the floor.
