Sims at Luers-Snider
Former Snider boys basketball coach Ray Sims made an appearance at the Bishop Luers-Snider game.
Sims was recently in the hospital, and he sat at one end of the Snider gym. During halftime, a line of people stopped by to talk with Sims.
There were chants of "Ray Sims" from the Snider student section in the second half of the game.
Wild final minute for Luers boys
Luers clinched the SAC with a 87-81 win over Snider and did it with a wild final minute of the game.
With 1:00 left, Luers coach James Blackmon pulled his starters with an 80-70 lead. He put them back in eight seconds later as Snider looked to be building some momentum, despite being down 82-72, as the "boos" rained down from the Snider crowd.
After an inbound and a quick foul, a second ticked off the clock but the subs came back in. When the Panthers got to within 85-78 with 25 seconds remaining, the starters returned and stayed for the rest of the game.
