A Fort Wayne mother admitted to leaving her 5-year-old and 6-month-old daughters alone in her apartment for about an hour, according to court records.
Lasharika S. Henderson, 20, of the 1400 block of Greene Street, was charged Tuesday with neglect of a dependent.
Authorities received a report about 3 a.m. Dec. 5 that Henderson’s children were at home by themselves. A man had seen her leave and asked about her kids; she replied that she “didn’t care,” court records stated.
Police arrived and found the children safe in the apartment. Henderson told police she had been gone for about an hour.
Henderson was not in custody Wednesday. She has a warrant for her arrest.
