Precinct officials wanted

Allen County GOP Chairman Steve Shine recently put out a call to any Republicans interested in serving as a precinct committee chair or state convention delegate.

Filing for the positions began Jan. 11 and will end Feb. 10. The positions will be chosen by voters during this May’s primary election. Delegates attend the state convention this year, while precinct chairs serve as the main political official for each precinct. Along with other duties, precinct officials help fill unexpired terms when elected officials leave office.

People interested in filing should go to the Allen County Election Board at 1 W. Superior St., on the corner of Calhoun and Superior streets.

Shine reminded candidates to bring a state issued photo identification showing your address, along with a pen to fill out the form. People can also call GOP headquarters at 422-1554 to verify their precinct.

Democrats are not selecting precinct officials this spring, but they are electing convention delegates.
