Fair tax agenda

The Downtown GOP Club will hold its first luncheon of the year on Wednesday with a discussion on a national retail tax.

The group is bringing in David Armstrong, assistant state director for Fair Tax Indiana. The event is 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at GOP Headquarters downtown. It costs $15 to enter the club for one year and lunch is provided free to all club members.

According to the group, the fair tax is a federal taxation proposal that would supplant all federal income and payroll based taxes with a progressive national retail sales tax, a pre-bate so that no taxpayer pays federal taxes on spending up to the poverty level, dollar-for-dollar federal revenue neutrality, and, additionally, would advocate the repeal of the 16th Amendment.
