IPFW men fall to Southern Utah

The IPFW men’s basketball team dropped its fourth straight game, 58-56 at Southern Utah on Saturday.

The Mastodons (9-10, 3-7 Summit League) had two shots in the final seconds to tie but couldn’t get either to drop.

Southern Utah improved to 10-10 overall and 5-5 in the conference.

IPFW, which fell to 0-4 in road league games, trailed by seven points late in the game before getting closer.

The Mastodons were led by the 19 points of Frank Gaines, including 14 in the first half. Justin Jordan came off the bench to score 13 points for IPFW.

IPFW made 15 of 48 (31 percent) from the field and 21 of 29 (72 percent) from the free-throw line. Southern Utah hit 19 of 30 (63 percent) from the field and 17 of 25 (68 percent) from the line.
