Every so often you come across a story that's just, well, weird.
Come on down, Fausto Carmona!
Or should we say, "Roberto Hernandez Heredia."
Apparently that's Carmona's real handle, which is why he was arrested in the Dominican Republic yesterday for trying to obtain a visa under a false name.
No word on why it took Dominican authorities so long to bust "Carmona" on this charge; he's only been pitching for the Cleveland Indians for six years. No word, either, on why "Carmona" found it necessary to invent an identity for himself just because he was playing Major League Baseball in the U.S.
Oh, yes, and one other thing: No word, either, on why he told the Indians he was three years younger than he is. He's not 28, it turns out; he's 31.
By an odd coincidence (wink-wink), so am I.
