Yeah, THAT Christian Laettner

Just in case you missed it, Christian Laettner is coming to the Mad Ants.

And no, he won't be there to hit turn-around jump shots at the buzzer.

Laettner, who led Duke to back-to-back NCAA championships in 1991 and '92, is expected to officially be named the Mad Ants assistant coach Friday when the Ants play at Sioux Falls.

Laettner nailed just about every conceivable individual honor in '92 and went on to have a 13-year NBA career. He didn't match the hype of his college days, although he was the only college player named to the 1992 United States Olympic team - aka the "Dream Team."

He will work under current Mad Ants coach Steve Gansey, who was an assistant with the team before Joey Meyer was cut in late December.

Steve Warden blogs all things Mad Ants.
