Well, at least we know that Gunner Kiel is mobile.

And that's the only wisecrack you'll hear from the Blob on the highly-regarded Columbus East quarterback, who changed his mind again yesterday and spurned LSU to commit to Notre Dame.

Not even Liz Taylor (career marriages: eight) was so committed to committing.

OK, so I just hit the over on wisecracks.

What I won't do is wish pain, injury and eternal anguish on young Gunner, which is what some of the more unhinged among LSU Nation apparently did when it got out that Kiel -- who originally committed to Indiana, then came to his senses and de-committed -- was de-committing from LSU as well.

Maybe they're uncharitable enough to trash the unfinished symphony that is a teenager, but I won't do it. All I see in this is typical teenaged behavior. Most adults would engage in second-guessing if faced with the decisions a blue-chip athlete has to make coming out of high school; it's hardly surprising a 17- or 18-year-old young man or woman would.

In fact, I'm stunned this sort of thing doesn't happen more often. It's a big decision, anyway, but when you're at an age where perspective is lacking and everything that happens to you seems like an end-of-the-world scenario, it becomes not just a big decision but the decision that will determine everything forever and ever and ever.

It doesn't, of course. But have you ever tried to tell a kid that?
