Notre Dame's staff appears set

Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly appears to have filled out his coaching staff.

Bobby Elliott is leaving his position as Iowa State's secondary coach to join the Irish, according to Cyclones coach Paul Rhoads.

"Bobby has informed me that he is leaving our program for a coaching position at Notre Dame," Iowa State coach Paul Rhoads said in a news release. "We appreciate his contributions to our program and wish the Elliott family all the best in the future."

Notre Dame has not made an official announcement of Elliott's hiring and has not announced any staff changes since early January when current assistants were assigned new duties.

Kelly is replacing Charley Molnar, who left his position as offensive coordinator to become the head coach at the University of Massachusetts, and running backs coach Tim Hinton and offensive line coach Ed Warinner, who both left for similar positions at Ohio State.

Notre Dame promoted former offensive intern Scott Booker to the staff, moved Chuck Martin from safeties coach to offensive coordinator and promoted defensive coordinator Bob Diaco to assistant head coach and cornerbacks coach Kerry Cooks to co-defensive coordinator on Feb. 2.

Along with the edition of Elliott, Harry Hiestand is expected to join Notre Dame's staff. Hiestand resigned as Tennessee' offensive line coach and, according to reports, is expected to be hired in a similar position with the Irish.

Elliott does have connections to Notre Dame's current staff. He coached Cooks at Iowa and was the defensive coordinator for the Hawkeyes when Diaco, who also played for Elliott, was a graduate assistant with the program.
