Playing their final home game of the month, the Mad Ants suffered a 108-100 loss to the Dakota Wizards on Tuesday at Memorial Coliseum.
The Ants (8-13) begin a five-game road trip Friday at Sioux Falls, S.D., and won’t return home until Feb. 2, when they face Maine.
Tommy Smith, Dakota’s 6-foot-10 center whose previous high this season was 14 points, lit up the Ants for 30, as the Wizards controlled the offensive glass in the final half to erase a 53-46 halftime deficit.
Rookie guard Cam Jones led the Ants with points.
Fort Wayne played without leading scorer Ron Howard, who is out an estimated two weeks with a broken thumb.
Additionally, the Ants played most of the game without reserve forward Ramon Harris, who was fouled midway through the second quarter, took a spill beneath the basket, and did not return. Harris spent most of the second half on the Fort Wayne bench in street clothes.
