  • The Week Ahead
March + May = SummerAfter a month of summer (that we kept calling March, despite the fact it was looking less and less like March as the month went on), April moved in and returned us to reality.
  • The Week Ahead
Doing a 180Flooding has become an annual rite of spring around these parts. It seems like every year at least part of our area is dealing with floodwaters. This year things are very different.

Back to summerThere was just something about April. The moment the calendar turned from March, things started to cool down. Then, as soon as April became May, things warmed right back up.

The Week Ahead

Welcome back, winter

I hope you enjoyed the unusually mild and calm weather that January had been giving us because those days are gone.

We went from routinely making it into the 40s each day to not even hitting 20 on Friday.

So what happened?

January happened. The better question would be: How did we get so much nice weather in the first two weeks of the month?

A series of unusual events, including high pressure to the south and an abnormal position of the jet stream to our north led to the unusual mild streak.

Now things are returning to normal. That means being outside just isn’t as much fun as it was a week ago.

Weather wise: As mild as this month was, we were nowhere close to record levels. Most January dates (25 of the 31) have record highs in the 60s.
