  • Former IU player, coach Watson dies
    Lou Watson, who was an All-American and later coach at Indiana, died Thursday in Fairfax, Va. He was 88. Watson was an All-American in 1950 and coached at IU from 1966-1971.

Ohio State crushes IU

Lenzelle Smith Jr. scored 28 points as No. 5 Ohio State crushed No. 7 Indiana 80-63 Sunday at Value City Arena in Columbus, Ohio.

Indiana never recovered from a woeful first half. The Hoosiers nearly had as many turnovers (12) as points (14) and went into halftime trailing 35-14.

Not much went right in the final 10 minutes of the first half. Cody Zeller scored while getting fouled at 10:02. The Hoosiers' next points, a bucket by Zeller, came at 1:07.

Ohio State outscored Indiana 15-2 in the final 10 minutes of the half.

Zeller finished with 16 points for the Hoosiers.

Bishop Luers product Deshaun Thomas scored 11 points for Ohio State.
