IPFW loses doubleheader to Oakland

It was the same media room within Memorial Coliseum, the same chair at the same table, and the same complaint by both IPFW basketball coaches.

Will somebody - anybody - play defense.

Women's coach Chris Paul complained about the lack of defense in his team's 67-47 loss to Oakland, and men's coach Tony Jasick said he was unhappy with the defense in the 96-86 loss.

And they're both right.

Neither team played anything that resembled consistent defense in the doubleheader loss to Oakland, which brought nearly 400 fans on eight buses.

Amanda Hyde led the women's team in scoring with 10 points, and Mario Hines had 20 to lead the men.
