IU saw its three-game winning streak come to an end as Minnesota topped the No. 7 Hoosiers 77-74 Thursday at Assembly Hall.
Cody Zeller scored 23 points in IU's first loss at home this season.
Here are the highlights.
Key shot(s): The Gophers hit 6 of their final 8 free throws in the 39 seconds to hold off a late Indiana rally.
Key stat: The Hoosiers were just 4 of 18 on three-point attempts (22.2 percent).
Happy return: Will Sheehey returned from an ankle injury and scored 12 points on 5 of 7 shooting. He had missed the previous five games.
A little scare: Christian Watford went down with an injury with 11:30 left in the first half. The forward returned to the game with 9:12 to go in the half.
Quotable:
"The teams that take the next step totally get that defense is what comes first in every situation. Defense creates the offense, defense creates more opportunities. Defense creates the fastbreaks. You name it.
"The best teams gain confidence from their defense, not the other way around."
- IU coach Tom Crean
