Turnovers cost IPFW women

IPFW’s women’s team suffered its second straight double-digit loss in a 72-57 loss to Southern Illinois Edwardsville on Sunday at the Gates Center.

The Mastodons (4-6), a 64-43 loser at Valparaiso on Tuesday, had three players in double figures against SIUE (5-4), but their assist-to-turnover ratio suffered for a second consecutive game. IPFW had five assists Sunday against 15 turnovers. They had eight assists against 14 turnovers against Valparaiso.

Stephanie Rosado led IPFW with 16 points, and Anne Boese had 11 points.

Amanda Hyde, returning from an injury, added 10 points.

BALL STATE 59, AUSTIN PEAY: Brittany Carter’s 17 points and 14 points and 11 rebounds for Suxanne Grossnickle led the Cardinals (5-5) over the Governors (2-8) in Muncie.

INDIANA 65, IUPUI 64: Jasmine McGhee scored 27 points and had 15 rebounds to lead the Hoosiers (3-6) over the Jaguars (4-6) in Indianapolis. Kerah Nelson had 24 points for IUPUI.

CENTRAL MICHIGAN 75, No. 12 PURDUE 62: In Mount Pleasant, Mich., Point guard Brandie Baker scored all 16 of her points in the second half and the Chippewas (3-5) upset the Boilermakers (7-3), who got 25 points from Brittany Rayburn.

No. 1 BAYLOR 73, ST. JOHN’S 59: In New York, Brittney Griner had 17 points, 13 rebounds and six blocks to lead the Bears (10-0) past the Red Storm (5-5) in the Maggie Dixon Classic at Madison Square Garden.

No. 5 MARYLAND 78, GEORGE MASON 50: In Fairfax, Va., Alyssa Thomas had 18 points to lead four players in double figures for the Terrapins (11-0) against the Patriots (6-3).

No. 6 DUKE 93, USC-UPSTATE 35: In Durham, N.C., Elizabeth Williams scored 22 points on 10-of-10 shooting to the Blue Devils (7-2) past the Spartans (1-8).

No. 7 TENNESSEE 84, No. 20 DePAUL 61: In New York, Glory Johnson scored 16 points to lead the Volunteers (5-2) past the Blue Demons (8-2) in the Maggie Dixon Classic.

No. 8 TEXAS A&M 68, TCU 53: In Fort Worth, Texas, Adaora Elonu had 15 points and 12 rebounds as the Aggies (7-2) topped the Horned Frogs (4-5).

No. 10 KENTUCKY 101, ARK.-PINE BLUFF 43: In Lexington, Ky., Bria Goss scored 19 points as the Wildcats (10-0) trounced the Lions (0-7).

No. 18 NORTH CAROLINA 93, E. TENNESSEE ST. 77: In Chapel Hill, N.C., Chay Shegog scored 26 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the Tar Heels (7-1) over the Buccaneers (0-10).

No. 19 GEORGETOWN 59, GEORGE WASHINGTON 50: In Washington, Sugar Rodgers had 18 points and six steals as the Hoyas (9-2) topped the Colonials (5-4).

No. 22 DELAWARE 70, WAKE FOREST 57: In Winston-Salem, N.C., Elena Delle Donne, the nation’s leading scorer, had 30 points and 13 rebounds to the Blue Hens (8-0) against the Demon Deacons (7-2).

N0. 24 OKLAHOMA 72, WIS.-MILWAUKEE 50: In Norman, Okla., Whitney Hand scored 17 points and matched her season high with 10 rebounds as the Sooners (4-3) snapped a three-game losing streak. Courtney Lindfors scored 15 points to lead the Panthers (2-6).

No. 16 ALABAMA 62, DETROIT 54: In Tuscaloosa, Ala., JaMychal Green scored 21 points and the the Crimson Tide (8-2) rebounded from a two-game losing streak to beat the Titans (5-7). Detroit’s Ray McCallum scored 13 points after going into halftime without making a field goal.

MURRAY ST. 76, No. 21 MEMPHIS 72: In Memphis, Tenn., Donte Poole connected on a career-high six three-pointers and scored 20 points as the Racers (10-0) upset the Tigers (5-3). Will Barton led Memphis with 27 points, and Joe Jackson had 20.

No. 24 ILLINOIS 80, COPPIN ST. 63: In Champaign, Ill., D.J. Richardson scored 20 points to lead four players in double figures as the Illini (10-0) remained undefeated. Tony Gallo the Eagles (3-5).
