I don't know where former Rangers owner Tom Hicks was yesterday, or what he was doing. But it's entertaining to contemplate what the man who blew up his franchise to hand Alex Rodriguez what is now the second-dumbest deal in history might have texted Angels owner Artie Moreno, who, 10 years from now, will be paying a 42-year-old Albert Pujols $25 million a year.

"Artie: What are you, nuts?" would be good guess.

"You just made me look smart," would be another.

"Ten years? Nobody knows what's gonna happen five minutes from now, Artie. Ten years from now, we could all be subjects of the Klingon Empire. And the Klingons hate baseball."
