IPFW tops Valparaiso

Frank Gaines scored 24 points and Trey McCorkle added 16 to lead IPFW (4-3) to an 85-76 victory over Valparaiso (6-3) on Wednesday at Memorial Coliseum.

IPFW jumped out to a 14-4 lead and eventually fell behind 56-55 with 13:57 remaining, but IPFW recovered when John Peckinpaugh scored on a jumper in the lane and a three-pointer from the right wing to send the Mastodons back in front 60-55 and never trailed.
