Hewes sponsoring Sprint Cup car

– Hewes Concrete Polishing, a Fort Wayne company, will sponsor a car that hopes to qualify for the Ford 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway in the final race of the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.

The local firm, owned by Garry Hewes, will partner with Sinica Motorsports Inc. for the Nov. 20 race. Qualifying is Nov. 19.

Grant Enfinger, who finished fifth in the ARCA Series, will make his Sprint Cup debut in the yellow and maroon No. 93 Chevrolet.

Hewes, whose business has been active in the North Carolina area, was approached by Sinica Motorsports about a possible sponsorship.

“They already had a team together, but they didn’t have a sponsor for Homestead, and NASCAR wanted them to have some kind of sponsor,” Hewes said. “We were working with them to try to make a deal on polishing.”

Hewes said he signed a contract that will include the first four races next season, including the Daytona 500. If the national exposure increases business, Hewes said he will likely sponsor the car for the entire 36-race series.

Because the car has no owners’ points, it will have to rely on qualification speed to enter the field.
