A 17-year-old was in custody Monday morning, accused of committing several burglaries in Huntington, in one case taking an SUV, Huntington city police said.
Police said the youth has been linked to various burglaries since May.
According to police, The Helping Hand in the 800 block of East Market Street was burglarized three times, May 5, May 7 and July 4, with cash missing each time. Food was also reported missing, police said.
On May 7, police said, a 1999 Ford Expedition was taken from Bobs Auto Sales on South Briant Street and found later that day in the 2100 block of East Taylor Street.
Chief Tom Emely said information provided to them led them to the suspect, according to a statement. The juvenile was not identified.
Computer equipment was damaged and a small amount of money was taken May 5 from Becklers Power Equipment in the 1100 block of South Jefferson Street, police said.
On May 11, a small camera was stolen from the B&K Root Beer stand in the 1200 block of South Jefferson. On the same day, police said, a window was broken at the Perfect Pet store on South Briant Street.
The teen was taken to the Muncie Juvenile Facility, where he is being held until the Huntington County Prosecutors Office and the Huntington County Probation Department take further action, police said.
