Serving a “Wicked” roast beef sandwich, the Broadway Deli in New Haven is expected to open today.
Through Saturday, hours will be 4 to 11 p.m. to coordinate with New Haven Canal Days. The deli is at 504 Broadway St. in a former antiques store.
Next week, regular hours are expected to be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
The menu includes sandwiches, such as chicken, ham, turkey, Italian, tuna salad and chicken salad, which are named after Broadway shows. Full sandwiches are $5.90 to $6.95; most half versions are $4.
Entrée salads are garden, chef, Caesar and chicken Caesar.
Also offered are homemade sides of coleslaw and pasta salads, plus baked goods such as breads, pies, cinnamon rolls, cookies and brownies.
Owners Dan and Renee Moore plan to add soups to the menu in the fall. They also are seeking local artists to display pieces.

Venice Restaurant celebrates 30 years
The Venice Restaurant, 2242 Goshen Road, will offer several specials starting Monday to mark its 30th anniversary.
The Jo-Jo sandwich will be $2.99, and 14-inch pizzas (up to three toppings) will be $10.
Daily specials include a Mexican lunch and dinner on Monday.
On Tuesday, you can get chicken barbecue with au gratin potatoes, broccoli slaw, watermelon and brownie for $8.95. Kids can get hot dogs and tater tots for $3.50. Sweetcakes the Clown will make balloon art and paint faces.
The pizza buffet will be $6.95 for lunch and dinner June 15. Joyce MacNamara will play from 5 to 8 p.m.
Feast on barbecue ribs, baked beans, potato salad and watermelon June 16. Steve Lupkin and Michael Patterson will play the blues from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
June 17 will be German night with beef rouladen, weiner schnitzel, brats and sauerkraut. George Burger will lead a sing-along from 6 to 9 p.m.
Joseph Decuis offers opera series
Taking the idea of singing for your supper to a new level, Joseph Decuis in Roanoke will kick off its four-part opera dinner series today.
The courtyard opens at 6:30 p.m. with dinner and entertainment starting at 7:30 p.m. (If it rains, dinner will be served in the restaurant’s conservatory).
The opera performances, directed by Heartland Chamber Chorale’s Robert Nance and featuring different vocalists each time, will last about 45 minutes total and will be spread throughout the evening.
The event is $50, which includes the three-course dinner and the $10 entertainment fee.
Today’s menu for “Love, Lust and Lunacy” features a spring salad; chicken breast stuffed with veal sweetbreads, morels and pistachios; and chocolate cake with a chocolate ganache and praline topping prepared by La Dolce Vita of Roanoke.

Menus, hours for Father’s Day

Summer features at Casa restaurants
Casa Ristoranti Italiano has a new menu of featured dishes that are available through July at all locations.
Entrées are rotisserie-grilled pork chops, sole with Italian bread crumbs, spaghetti and eggplant with ricotta, and cannelloni with chicken and cheese.
Prices are $7.99 to $12.99.
The features also include two versions of flatbread for $7.29. One is topped with prosciutto, soppressata, capicola, Caesar dressing, tomatoes, cheese and field greens. The other includes roasted pepper hummus, vegetables and balsamic vinaigrette.
A summer salad includes mixed greens, mandarin oranges, strawberries, tomatoes, feta and glazed walnuts with citrus dressing for $7.49.
There is also blackberry-sour cream cheesecake is $3.99.

•Anastasia’s Café, 7121 W. Jefferson Blvd., will offer a Brown Derby Cobb salad through June 30. It features chicken, hard-boiled egg, avocado, blue cheese, bacon and tomato with the original vinaigrette from the Brown Derby Hotel in California.
•The Fresh Market in Covington Plaza will have a cooking demo from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday. The menu will feature sautéed tomato basil pork, with summer salad and berry parfait.
•Salomon Farm Park Farmers Market, 817 W. Dupont Road, opens today. Hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays through Oct. 5.
