Downtown Pizza & Ice Cream is back, with a new name and owner.
Bortolos Downtown Pizza & Ice Cream has opened at 534 W. Berry St. Jernice Watson runs the franchise.
Besides traditional options, the menu includes specialty pizzas such as veggie, barbecue chicken, spinach and ranch and meat lovers.
It also has stromboli and sandwiches, such as a chicken grinder and a Philly cheese steak. More items will be added soon.
Hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and 2 to 7 p.m. Sundays.

Vince’s caters to early-bird crowd
If youre an early bird diner, check out the new menu at Vinces, 10460 Maysville Road.
Enjoy two featured entrees for $25. Each includes bread, a Caesar or house salad and dessert.
The nine entrées include smothered flank steak, almond-pecan shrimp, cornmeal tilapia, Mediterranean chicken, pork loin, Prince Edward Isle mussels and shrimp alfredo.
The Early Bird dinner menu is available from 4 to 6 p.m. daily.

Chuck & Bird’s raises a glass
Chuck & Birds, 4301 Fairfield Ave., will have a four-course wine dinner, with locally produced ingredients, at 6:30 p.m. Monday.
The dinner is $42 (or $30 without wine), which doesnt include tax or gratuity.
Weather permitting, limited outdoor seating will be available.

Lunch on the Square starts Thursday
The weekly summer Lunch on the Square events downtown start Thursday and run through Aug. 25.
From 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Thursday, bring your lunch to One Summit Square (at the corner of Wayne and Calhoun streets) for free musical performances sponsored by the Downtown Improvement District.
There also will be a health and wellness area and a featured community organization.
Thursdays band is Pop N Fresh. Fourth Star, Left of the Moon will play June 9.

Beer tastings on tap at Dicky’s
Every Thursday through August, a free beer tasting and live music will begin at 8 p.m. at Dickys Wild Hare, 2910 Maplecrest Road.
There is no cover charge.
From 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. this Friday, the restaurant will have its second Teacher Appreciation Day.
Enjoy free snacks, and various food and drink specials. Jive Turkey will perform.

Leo Crossing Dairy Queen employee Meghan Miller last week won the inaugural district Top Curl competition, in which contestants must race against the clock to make the perfect medium cone and Peanut Buster Parfait.
They also are judged on the items appearance and store procedures.
Miller, an IPFW student, heads to the regional competition in September.
