Burgers and beer go together like Pinot Blanc and escargot.
You can sample both pairings this month at special themed dinners prepared by some local restaurants.
•Vince’s, 10460 Maysville Road, will have a beer tasting from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday.
The menu will include mini Angus burgers, mustard chicken with focaccia, Creole grouper, fried potatoes with chorizo and chocolate-banana bread pudding.
Featured beers include Goose Island Matilda, Magic Hat No. 9 and Timmermans Lambic.
Admission to the event is $20.

•BakerStreet Restaurant, 4820 N. Clinton St., will have a French wine dinner on May 31.
The six-course menu will feature a cheese and sausage plate, escargot, halibut, roast lamb with truffle potatoes and dessert.
It’s $85, which is all inclusive.

SCAN fundraisers at area restaurants
Some local restaurants are having fundraisers for SCAN, the agency that works to prevent child abuse, today and next week.
From 6 to 9 p.m. today, two Buffalo Wild Wings locations will donate 10 percent of food and non-alcoholic beverage sales.
They are at 5519 Coventry Lane and 10524 Maysville Road.
Customers must present a voucher. Get it at www.scanfw.org.On May 25, Dicky’s Wild Hare, 2910 Maplecrest Road, will donate 10 percent of food and non-alcoholic beverage sales all day.
Customers must mention SCAN when ordering.
Linni Lyn’s Café serves up barbecue
Get an early taste of summer at Linni Lyn’s Café, which is offering grilled dishes every Thursday through Saturday.
The menu will include hot dogs, burgers, brats, chicken, rib tips and ribs (half and full slabs).
Prices are $1.50 to $20; some include a side dish.
The restaurant, 1904 Maumee Ave., is open 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays to Saturdays.

Joseph Decuis plans wine lunch
Sample the best of Portuguese cuisine, courtesy of Joseph Decuis, 191 N. Main St. in Roanoke, during a wine luncheon at noon Saturday.
The menu includes kale soup with sausage and beans, roasted chicken thigh with saffron-potato puree, pork ragout with egg noodles and vanilla custard tart.
The lunch is $40 (or $28 without wine), plus tax and gratuity.

Essenhaus specials mark 40 years
Das Dutchman Essenhaus in Middlebury, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, has several specials this week.
The restaurant at 240 U.S. 20 opened in 1971 and is still owned by Bob and Sue Miller.
From 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, you can order a quarter-chicken dinner with two sides for $2.75 or a family style meal for $7.95 per person.
On Thursday, enjoy the breakfast, lunch or dinner buffets for $5.95.
From 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, diners can get either a free slice of pie with a meal purchase or a discount of $2.50 off a family style meal.
The festivities end Saturday with free miniature golf, free beverages (with meal purchase) and raffles and giveaways.
