Kids’ series focuses on Civil War

In April 1861, the Civil War began after federal soldiers were forced to abandon Fort Sumter in Charleston, S.C. This year marks 150 years since the war began.

To mark the anniversary, The Journal Gazette is offering an eight-week series on the Civil War on our kids page, fred, beginning on Page 10D today.

The series will appear every Tuesday on fred through May 31.

The series includes stories about people and information about the war, as well as puzzles, trivia, hands-on lessons and fun facts.
