The city’s spring menu is expanding with a mix of new dishes and familiar comfort food as more restaurants open and others move around town.
•Mitchell’s Sports Bar & Grill, at the Marketplace of Canterbury in the former Sharon’s Diner, is planning its grand opening for Friday.
Hours will be 7 a.m. to 2 a.m. Mondays to Saturdays and 7 a.m. to midnight Sundays. The full menu will be available all day.
•In mid-April, Ziano’s Italian Eatery will open a second location at 702 E. Dupont Road, the former Norma’s Pancake House.
Ziano’s also plans to open a third restaurant in Chapel Ridge plaza, possibly by the end of summer. That one will open in the Honey Bee Chinese Buffet, which is moving soon to 2932 E. Dupont Road, in Dupont Landing.
•Lakeside Café will open at 1040 Coliseum Blvd. N. in the former Liberty Diner II, which recently closed.
The original Liberty Diner, 2929 Goshen Road, is still open.
IPFW celebrations feature food
The IPFW campus is having two food-related events.
The first one will be April 6, when you can sample a “Taste of the Mediterranean,” as part of the WorldFest celebration.
The cooking and tasting session begins at noon in Walb Student Union, Room G-08. The event is free.
On April 9, grab your tux for a black tie gala to benefit the IPFW Hospitality Management Association.
The gala will be at the Fort Wayne Marriott, 305 Washington Center Road.
Entrée choices are macadamia nut-crusted salmon or osso bucco. The cocktail hour begins at 6 p.m.
The keynote speaker will be Gerry Ludwig, a corporate consulting chef for Gordon Food Service.
Advance tickets are $40, or $300 for a table of eight.

•Check out the annual Edible Book Festival from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday at Ivy Tech Community College’s Student Life Center, 4900 St. Joe Road. Admission is free.
•To celebrate its 55th anniversary, Atz Ice Cream will offer 55-cent single scoops starting Friday and running through Sunday at both locations, 3235 N. Anthony Blvd. and 211 E. Tillman Road.
•Dicky’s Wild Hare, 2910 Maplecrest Road, will have a Bell’s Oberon Ale release party at 5 p.m. today, with $4 pints and various giveaways.
