Youth recycling video contest under way

Statement issued Friday by Allen County Solid Waste Management District:

The Allen County Solid Waste Management District is seeking creative minds to help spread the word about recycling in our community. To do this, the District is sponsoring its second annual video contest for Allen County student’s grades 6th through 12th. The purpose of the contest is to educate and inspire the general public to actively recycle by changing simple behaviors and taking advantage of local recycling opportunities.

Interested students are encouraged to make a 30 second video and submit it to our group page, www.youtube.com/acswmd1, on You Tube by February 28, 2011. Participants must also, complete an entry form and release form which can be found on our website www.acwastewatcher.org.

Two winners will be chosen by a panel of judges selected by the District. The 1st place winner will receive a Gateway Netbook courtesy of Fort Wayne Metals and ABC Warehouse. The 2nd place winner will receive an iPod courtesy of National Serv-All. Selected videos will be used for educational purposes including: internet sites, conferences and events, television, and other media outlets.

Please note that although groups may submit videos into the contest, only one prize will be awarded per video submission if that group is a 1st or 2nd prize winner.

To receive more detailed information about the contest, please visit our website at www.acwastewatcher.org or call 449-7878.
