5 games to watch

SAC

North Side (2-0, 2-0) at Bishop Dwenger (2-0, 2-0): The Redskins’ reward for surviving a four-overtime 18-12 win against Harding is another challenge in the four-time defending SAC champion Saints. North Side’s defense will be tested as Dwenger has scored 103 points in two games.

NHC

East Noble (1-1, 0-0) at Homestead (2-0, 0-0): The two favorites for the NHC title go head-to-head in the conference opener. This one could be an offensive show on the Spartans’ speed-friendly field turf with quarterbacks Zach Terrell from Homestead and A.J. Dove from East Noble leading the way.

ACAC

Adams Central (2-0, 0-0) at Leo (1-1, 0-0): The Lions’ one-point loss (29-28) at Lebanon last week won’t diminish the importance of this league opener for either team. The up-and-coming Jets will be looking to knock Leo off its ACAC perch by the end of the season, and a win here would go a long way in helping that quest.

NECC

Culver Academy (0-2) at West Noble (1-1): The Eagles aren’t quite the same powers they have been in the past, and the Chargers might have turned a corner in a 27-0 win last week against Eastside. CMA, 9-3 last year, has been outscored 52-20 in its first two games.

Region

Manchester (1-1, 0-0) at Tippecanoe Valley (1-1, 0-0): Both teams will be trying to bounce back after losses last week, but the Squires’ task might be a little tougher. The Squires gave up 50 points (50-21 loss) to a Bluffton team which had only scored six points in its season opener, while the Vikings were competitive in a 29-22 loss to Bremen.
