TinCaps offense in gear in road rout

The TinCaps came into Tuesday having lost five of seven games, but they had an offensive explosion on the road, defeating Bowling Green 13-9 in Kentucky.

The TinCaps broke things open with three runs in second, begun by Jeudy Valdez’s RBI single to center. A fielding error by first baseman Ryan Wiegand allowed Valdez and Everett Williams to score for a 3-0 lead.

The TinCaps scored four in the third on Jedd Gyorko’s RBI single to right and Williams’ three-run double to center.

Fort Wayne’s lead was cut to 8-5 after seven, but the TinCaps responded with five runs in the eighth.

Nate Freiman and Edinson Rincon were the only TinCaps with multiple hits. Rincon had two doubles. Valdez was 1 for 4 with three runs scored.

Fort Wayne (39-25, 75-59) outhit Bowling Green (26-38, 57-76), 10-8.
