Indiana Tech is looking for a new athletic director – again.
Jeff Walker, who accepted the position in July 2009 after Roger Newton was released, resigned Friday and Monday was named the head mens basketball coach at Meridian Community College in Meridian, Miss.
There were a number of reasons, Walker said of his resignation. One, I missed coaching, and that became evident to me this year at Indiana Tech, just being the AD and not coaching. Thats what I felt I really wanted to do and needed to do; not that I didnt enjoy the AD part, too, but I missed coaching; and then just getting back a lot closer to my family. Our kids are (in Mississippi), and both my dad and my wifes dad are in Tennessee, so its a lot more accessible to the family.
Walker came to Indiana Tech last year from Crichton College in Memphis, Tenn.
Indiana Tech spokeswoman Janet Schutte said the university is searching for a replacement and hopes to fill the vacancy as soon as possible.
Tech has two assistant athletic directors: Martin Neuhoff, mens soccer coach, and Kirsta Solberg, womens volleyball coach.
