FORT WAYNE – A Fort Wayne man received a four-year sentence Monday for having an incestuous relationship with his teenage daughter.
The 47-year-old mans name is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim, who was between 14 and 16 during the period of abuse, according to court records.
Allen Superior Court Judge Fran Gull sentenced the man to four years in prison for sexual misconduct with a minor and suspended a seven-year term for incest, both Class C felonies. As part of a plea deal, a more serious Class B felony incest count and a charge of attempted incest were dismissed.
According to the victim, the abuse usually occurred when the man drank heavily. His sentence calls for him to abstain from alcohol during five years of probation.
The incest occurred from June 2007 to January 2010. Police learned of the case when the girl told a North Side High School conflict mediator her father had intercourse with her. The man had told his daughter not to tell anyone.
In at least one instance, the abuse occurred with the mans girlfriend in the home, according to court documents.
