Her name was McGill ...

... but everyone called her the Defensive Player of the Week.

OK, so the line from the Beatles' "Rocky Raccoon" has been changed a little.

Because IPFW sophomore Tessa McGill dug out more balls than the left side of the Chicago Cubs infield this past weekend, she was named the Summit League Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week.

McGill had a total of 76 digs in the Mastodons' three matches at the IPFW Invitational. She had 17 in the loss to Tulsa, had 28 against Saint Louis, then finished off with 31 digs against Milwaukee.

The 31 digs were the ninth-most by any IPFW women volleyball player ever, and they were the second-most by any Mastodons sophomore.

And in case you're not familiar with the tune, it goes "... and she called herself Lil, but everyone knew her as Nancy..."
