VFW gunman convicted, faces up to 12 years

An Allen Superior Court jury convicted 30-year-old Cheynne Javon Williams on Wednesday of six counts of battery in an October shooting outside a VFW post.

Williams, of the 1300 block of Lillie Street, had been charged with shooting six people at the VFW Selmer Kinrick Post, 2441 Winter St. The post is open as a bar or nightclub on weekends. All the victims were in fair or better condition at the time of the shooting, police said.

Williams himself was shot at the same nightclub in 2004.

Williams faces two to eight years in prison on each charge when he is sentenced in September.
