Day off

First baseman Nate Freiman received a rare day off Tuesday, a game the TinCaps lost 8-5. Freiman has a .150 batting average (6 for 40) in his last 10 games. Despite the slump, Freiman still is tied for the team lead in RBI with 73.

Freiman is second in the Midwest League in games, appearing in 123 contests. The TinCaps have played 127 games.

"We just wanted to give him a little rest," TinCaps manager Jose Flores said. "Just wanted him to have a day off to come back fresh for a big series with Great Lakes."

The TinCaps open a three-game series with Great Lakes at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday at Parkview Field. Fort Wayne trails the Loons by three games for first place in the Eastern Division.
