Notre Dame oral commitment Tony Springmann was on the sidelines when his Bishop Dwenger team opened the season with a 44-13 victory over South Side on Friday.
Springmann, who is projected as a defense end for the Irish, suffered a concussion Tuesday at practice.
Springmann told The Journal Gazette High school sports editor Greg Jones that he was feeling dizzy and had lots of headaches after the concussion.
But the 6-foot-6, 257-pounder said the symptoms have nearly disappeared, and he should be able to practice again in about a week.
"It's very frustrating, but the team came out very prepared ready to play," Springmann said of watching instead of playing in the season opener.
"I wanted to be out there. I hate sitting, it's terrible. The team really played well. Everyone came out and played as hard as they could every play."
