TinCaps continue to dominate Lugnuts

Williams

And down go the Lansing Lugnuts again.

For the seventh straight time dating back to May 7, the TinCaps lumped up the Lugnuts on Saturday, this time by an 8-2 count in Lansing, Mich.

Everett Williams was the chief tormenter in this one, going 3 for 4 with two home runs, three runs scored and three RBI as the TinCaps (30-18 second half, 66-52 overall) won for the 11th time in 14 games in August.

This time around, the TinCaps spotted Lansing (24-24; 60-57) a 2-0 lead after an inning, then roared back behind an 11-hit attack, 10 of which came from Williams, Jedd Gyorko (3 for 5, 3 RBI), Dean Anna (2 for 5, 2 runs, RBI) and Jonathan Galvez (2 for 4, run).

Besides Williams, Anna and Gyorko went deep for the TinCaps, who tied it on Williams’ two-run shot in the third.

Jose DePaula (8-3, 2.58 ERA) got the win on the hill for the TinCaps, coming on to relieve starter Josh Spence in the third.

Notes: The TinCaps lost a pitcher and gained two more Saturday. Right-hander Jon Berger was called up to Advanced-A Lake Elsinore (Calif.); lefty Noah Mull was added from Lake Elsinore and righty Allen Marona from Short-A Eugene (Ore.).
