Unusual numbersSix. That’s the number of days we have already hit 50 degrees this year. Six times! Let’s put that in perspective. Last year (not an unusually cold winter), we hit 50 for the second time on Feb. 17.

Fast/slow summer

It’s funny how time works. On one hand, this summer has been long and hot. It feels as if it has been one endless 90-degree day. On the other hand, I found myself thinking about the kids going back to school and wondering where the summer had gone.

I did run across one heat lover recently who has been absolutely thrilled with this summer, but for the rest of us a break from the humidity would be nice.

We will finally get that break this week, as humidity is expected to drop and temperatures retreat to the low to mid-80s.

Weather wise: Since June 1, the number of days to reach 90 degrees: 20. The number of days to fail to reach 80 degrees: seven.
