We welcome your photos

In addition to Associated Press photos, The JournalGazette.net Critters page features photos of local pets and wildlife, as well as shelter animals up for adoption.

If you would like to share your pet or wildlife photo on the Critters page, please send it as a JPEG attachment to critters@jg.net with a little bio information. There is no charge to use your photo, although we cannot guarantee we’ll use every one we receive.

We do not post pets for sale on the Critters page. To see information about advertising, please click here.

We’ll need:

  • The owner(s) name. Can be an individual or family, for an example.
  • The pet’s name and current age.
  • The name of the person who took the photo. Please don’t send professionally taken photos unless you are the professional photographer. Pros likely have something in that contract you signed that limits use of their work. (If you are a professional and would gladly let us use the photos of your clients’ pets, please e-mail critters@jg.net and leave your name and a contact number where you can be reached.)
  • A little biographical information about your pet. For example, Fido, who is now 11 years old, came to our family after he showed up in a box of puppies one of my co-workers brought to the office. In this photo, he’s 6 months old. He’s slowing down now, but loves long walks and pig-ear treats.
  • Where you live. You can be general, such as southwest Fort Wayne or north of Columbia City.
  • A phone number where you can be reached during the day in case we have questions.
If you take a photograph of local wildlife you would like to share, we’ll need:

  • A little story about how and where you took the photograph, such as, “I was walking out to the barn at our house outside Angola on Aug. 14 when this bold groundhog stood up and munched down a carrot. We’ve tried everything we can think of to discourage it, but isn’t taking the hint.”
  • Your name and where you live, such as Warsaw.
  • Please include a phone number where you can be reached during the day in case we have questions.
