Former Wayne coach Larry Getts has resurfaced as the receivers coach at Harding.
Early in the summer, when it was apparent Getts wouldn't be rehired at Wayne as a teacher or coach, he contacted Harding coach Sherwood Haydock.
Haydock said Getts has been a big plus.
An interesting twist is Getts' role as receivers coach since his teams at Wayne were noted for running the football - a lot.
In five season with the Generals, Getts was 19-36 but was 7-5 last year and seemed to have the program headed in the right direction. Wayne lost to Delta in the Class 3A sectional championship game.
He is only a volunteer coach with the Hawks and is still without a teaching position.
Former Elmhurst coach Kyle Beauchamp has moved into Getts' old job at Wayne, pending approval from Fort Wayne Community Schools.
