Craft Hope and What You Can Do

Craft Hope Project 8

To be honest, I have never heard about Craft Hope before this weekend. I was wandering around the internet, looking for something, anything I could do to help with the gulf coast oil spill, and I found this post.

Then, I cast on and knit a 10-inch cloth. I'm including, in with this post, instructions for making my sailor-rib cloth at the requested 10 inch size. If you have some time and a little cotton yarn, please consider pitching in, too.

You may recall a previous column had a pattern for a nine-patch washcloth. The approximate dimensions of that crocheted cloth were 9x9, with a double crochet edging, it'd be easy to bring that up to 10 inches. Not to mention, you could forego the nine-patch idea and just keep crocheting that granny square until it's 10 inches. Let's face it, when it comes to crochet cloths (made of cotton for this special project), you can do just about any of your favorite squares patterns (as long, I'm sure, as they aren't too hole-y).

To find more patterns you can visit Crochet Pattern Central (here and here for instance).
