Jerry Sullivan wanted to pitch inside and forcing Lake County off the plate.
The strategy worked. Sullivan retired 11 of the first 12 batters. He allowed one run in six innings of a 3-1 Fort Wayne win.
The victory snapped a season-high six game losing streak.
Sullivan allowed four hits. He struck out seven to improve to 2-2.
"The last few starts I've felt like I've been able to put the ball where I wanted to. I had some strong defense, got some strong play in the field," Sullivan said. "We got two diving plays today. That helps with the chemistry with the team. We're out to win together. We are tired of losing. And that's what we got today. We got the 'W.'"
