A daisy Haekelbeutel bag

These are the twist-stitch, spiral-ribbed mitts I will be sharing with you on Sunday. I made them with a handspun alpaca yarn, but any dk-weight would work, too.

For Photo Friday last week, I posted a picture of a daisy charity square blanket I made for a friend's child. This week, that pattern is still on my mind, this time in the form of a bag I made for someone here at Fort Wayne Newspapers. The Haekelbeutel (German for crocheted bag). The beauty of this bag is in it's construction. You can use any granny square pattern you want, and it can even be felted (something I've not tried yet). I interspersed daisy squares with plain squares in this bright bag. -- Joyce
