After all the talk of it being a travesty if Deshaun Thomas doesn't win Mr. Basketball and about the close race for the award between the Bishop Luers senior and North Central senior Terone Johnson, it was for nothing.

Thomas won the 2010 Mr. Basketball award going away over Johnson.

Thomas had 189 votes, Johnson 41 and third place wasn't even listed, but was reportedly seven.

The margin wasn't nearly a record nor was the percentage of votes, Damon Bailey still has that record as well.

Some of the recent vote totals include Jordan Hulls getting 131 last year, Tyler Zeller 257, Eric Gordon 216, Greg Oden 177 (out of 194 that year) and Luke Zeller 101.

The voters got it right with Thomas. No bias because Thomas is headed out of state to Ohio State and no Indianapolis-bias because Johnson played in the Capital City.

The 3,018 career points and two state championships, along with being a two-time Parade All-American and a starter for the McDonald's All-American game showed Thomas' worth.

Now, Thomas stop can stop sweating this one out. He has earned the right to keep wearing No. 1.
